CYPRUS -
THE IMPORTANT TOURIST CENTER

Cyprus has two international Airports: Larnaca and Paphos. In 1996 almost 2 million tourists, mainly from England and other European countries, but also from other countries from all over the world, visited our island. These were accommodated in approx. 85’000 hotelbeds of different categories.

The short distances between cities are easily accessible through the highways.

Cyprus offers everything to anyone. Is it for the “Sun and Bathing” Tourist, Incentives, Conferences, Businessmen or Groups with special interests, e.g.:

  • Golf
  • Wood carving
  • Folk dances and music
  • Embroiding
  • Wine cultivation
  • Photography
  • Painting
  • Fishing
  • Cooking
  • Glass blowing
  • Pottery
  • Birdwatching, Flora or Geology
  • Safari Tours with Jeeps
  • Horse Riding and Horse races
  • Diving
  • Sports:
    • Football
    • Skiing
    • Water Sports
    • Shooting
    • Tennis
    • Badmington
    • Squash
    • Cycling
  • International Motor Rally
  • Handicapped Groups
  • Christian Groups
  • Wine Festival in Limassol
  • and many different Culture Events

Golden Sandy Beaches, Mountains with Pine-Forests, quiet rustic villages in contrast with cosmopolitan cities. Nature and untouched landscapes with rare Flora and Fauna can be found close to every Tourist Resort.

The island offers Mid-Class-Hotels and Hotel Apartments for the “average” tourist. Also a big number of 4* and 5* Hotels with all the latest technical equipment and facilities are offered for “Quality” Tourism, such as Conferences, Incentives. Private villas with or without pool are another kind of accommodation.

With an average day Temperature of approx. 16 degrees celsius in winter and approx. 34 degrees celsius in the high-summer-period and its 340 sunny days per year, Cyprus offers a pleasant climate throughout the year.

Criminality is almost a non-existing word, but hospitality is the way of living here.

All this makes Cyprus a favourable destination and it is not rare that guests return several times to enjoy the beauty of the “Island of Aphrodite”.
